Black Magic is something that has been happening in India for hundreds of years, maybe even longer. For as long as I can remember there has been a battle between Black Magic and Mental Health Issues. Mental Health Issues are sometimes swept under the carpet in asian families because it is said to bring shame on the families. When Mental Health symptons are recognised alot of the time it is believed that Black Magic has been done on the person affected. I felt sad but excited to here of the ban of Black Magic In India, sad because it took the murder of Anti Superstition Campaigner Narendar Dabhoklar's to awaken the government once again, but pleased that they have now put the Anti Superstition Bill in place after a much awaited 8 years. I feel hopeful hearing that there are people passionate about wanting to bring Black Magic to an end. Maybe this is one step closer to awakening ourselves to the reality of issues such as Mental Health and in turn getting the right support and awareness to communities that have not had a channel to express issues through.
